Daily London

After accepting that we live in Guam, per se, Nicole and I decided to make the best of the worst and explore our surroundings this weekend with our free time. Luckily we found that we live very close to Finsbury Park, the actual park, in addition to countless small main streets with shops, grocers, and restaurants. We also were fortunate enough to finally figure out how to get ourselves home via bus! This is an accomplishment in our eyes as the night previous it took all of a half hour trying to figure out just what bus we could take before we decided to split a whopping 22 pound taxi. With all that being said, however, it was after a lovely night out with the rest of our study abroad crew as we took a boat ride throughout the river with sites of the London Bridge and London Eye. Typical, that Regent's provided transportation to said boat ride- but not back. So we decided to take advantage of the location and visit our new favorite pub, The Walkabout! An Australian pub, hence the name- Walkabout, with a bumping Thursday night karaoke and a five hour happy hour nightly who wouldn't love it!? Did I mention the fishbowls and half yarder drinks on the menu as well as the wedges? Happiness in a pub if I do say so. This weekend we got ourselves up and moving pretty early on Saturday, surprisingly, since it was our first opportunity to actually sleep late. But, we got out by 1 and took the Victoria line tube to Oxford Circus. Oxford Circus and Oxford Street in general here are known as the huge shopping streets with stores such as Top Shop and Primark. Today is the first day of classes and with a 9am Marketing class, traveling from Finsbury Park to Baker Street station included being part of the mad morning rush. Children being pulled on their scooters by their parents, newspapers flailing, headphones on, and brisk walkers filled the tube stations as I took the familiar Victoria line to Kings Cross Station to switch to the Circle Line which then brought me to the Regents Univ. local Baker Street station. This route being the new daily, can't say I look forward to it but I don't hate it either.
P.S. Pimms (the drink of London) is absolutely horrible in a can. Will try again in a glass, but for now you're on my shit list Pimms.
